VW concept eyes hybrid

Volkswagen is hinting at a couple things with its New Coupe Concept (that’s actually it’s name, or shortened to NCC) – the new Jetta due in 2011 will have a similar look (which is not too far removed from the current Golf, anyway) and that it will market a hybrid powertrain (likely in the Golf/Jetta as well).

If it were to be placed into the Volkswagen lineup, it would sit between the Scirocco coupe sold in Europe and the globally available Passat CC. Power is supplied by the direct injected 1.4-litre “four” in combination with a 20 kW electric motor.

The power is delivered to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (like an automatic with sequential gear selection).
