Another Japanese automaker is making use of the name 'prelude' to describe one of its vehicles, only this time in a different language.

Suzuki has unveiled the latest iteration of its 'Kizashi' concept car, the Kizashi 3. The Japanese name means 'prelude' in English, and though the name may not be new, you can be sure that this car is a glimpse at a production model flagship sports sedan that will be coming from Suzuki in the near future.

The first two Kizashi concepts debuted in 2007 in Frankfurt and Tokyo, respectively, and both followed a 'sporty' design theme. The latest concept melds the first concept's sporty nature with the second concept's daily driveability. The Kizashi 3 is meant to convey an athlete in motion.

"Kizashi means 'prelude' in Japanese, and that's exactly what this design represents for Suzuki from both a business and a product standpoint," said Mark Harano, president, American Suzuki Automotive Operations. "Concept Kizashi 3 illustrates our brand character and personifies our heritage, design strength and engineering prowess. With customers in 192 countries and regions, Suzuki is truly a global brand, and the coming model carries on our mission to build the image of our automotive products in North America and eventually match our bikes' reputation."

The Kizashi 3 uses a 3.6-litre V6 engine that is mated to a 6-speed automatic tranmission (with steering wheel paddle shifters).

The production model will be built at Suzuki's new plant in Sagara, Japan.
