The Mini brand gets a new member. But, you know what? It's not so miniature. It's more than four metres long and has four doors. Say hi to Countryman.

Base engine on the FWD Cooper version is a 1.6-litre four. The Countryman Cooper S, however, gets a twin scroll turbo and available all-wheel drive. Either model can be paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

It has the Mini face, and though it's not a JCW, it looks pretty muscular.

Inside, all four seats are adjustable. And, with the rear seats folded down, there's over 40 cu-ft of space for stuff, and a hidden storage compartment beneath the rear cargo floor to keep items away from prying eyes.

There are more than 500 combinations of interiors and trim. The interior has an adjustable (as in modular) centre console based on a sliding rail system that let's users move things around for better ergonomics (ie. cupholders, MP3 holders/chargers; even the armrest can be relocated).

Adaptive Xenon headlights are standard.

There's even an iPhone app that helps users to find fellow Mini drivers near you; and, to even communicate with them. Seriously!

Mini plans on both a coupe and a roadster within two years.
