The three diamonds is showing its newest 2011 Outlander – the entry-level crossover model – for the first time.

It is the first of three vehicles to be released in the next three years with an eye for sustainability.

This is the SE or Sport model and it is 15 inches shorter than other new Outlanders. Though it shares the same 105 inch wheelbase, it does not have a third row seat option like the ES, LS and XLS trims do. The other Outlanders are capable of seating seven while this one just five.

Power comes by way of Mitsubishi's 2.0-litre Mivec engine and can be controlled via paddles and Sportronic CVT column-mounted paddles. It gets 31 mpg and features regenerative braking to alleviate load on the alternator.

The colour – Laguna Blue – is to symbolize a warmer, fuzzier and yes, greener Mitsubishi.

The only other bit of news from the Mitsu stand is that an all-new global small car is coming in 2012.
