After news that Volvo will have a new parent company in the third quarter of 2010 (Chinese manufacturer Geely), the Swedish car maker is unveiling the all-new Volvo S60 in New York.

It's being billed as a genuine performance sedan able to compete in the most competitive segment (luxury performance ) in the world.

A 300-hp three-litre V6 making 325 lb-ft of torque is standard along with a Haldex AWD system complete with torque vectoring.

Peter Horbury, VP of design, calls it a “coupe with four doors – a drivers car!”

The 2011 Volvo S60 boasts a really nice interior as well as a new and improved infotainment system, with bigger displays (up to nine inches) and more intuitive controls.

In keeping with its track record of safety first, a pedestrian detection system with full auto-braking is standard.

Due in the late third quarter, pricing for the new S60 won't be announced until much closer to launch.
