Mitsubishi took the NY auto show as an opportunity to announce U.S. pricing for its electric car.

The base MSRP for its teeny-tiny "i MiEV" electric vehicle will be USD $20,490 after a $7,500 federal tax credit and there will be a premium package offering a DC quick charger hookup, as well as an optional cold weather pack. Retail deliveries of the iMiev are set to begin in January 2012. MiEv is short for Mitsubishi's innovative Electric Vehicle.

More about the New York Auto Show.

They also announced that eight new hybrid models will be available in North America by 2015; with a new global compact currently in development.

After a 22-year run, Mitsu is saying goodbye to the Eclipse with special editions of both its V6-powered coupe and spyder models for MY2012. A very special one-of-a-kind Eclipse is being produced to raise funds for the Red Cross Japan Earthquake Relief to help victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. "The Last Eclipse" will be auctioned off later this year with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Red Cross disaster relief effort.

Starting May 27, 2011, you can learn how to make a bid for this one-off Eclipse on Mitsubishi Motors' Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mitsubishi.
