Mini didn't unveil any new vehicles at the Jacob Javits Center, but they did put on a show. After Jim McDowell, VP of Mini USA, came out from stage left in full KISS costume (well, minus the tight pants and spikey shoulder pads, that is) the curtain raised to three quarters of the famous rock band (Paul Stanley being the absentee) and four KISS-inspired custom painted Countrymans. They was no live performance, however. Instead, Mini kicked off its "Mini Rocks the Rivals" competitive test drive tour. But, while the event will last just six weeks and only visit U.S. cities, the four distinctly-painted Countrymen will be auctioned off ahead of Father's Day for a good cause. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to UNICEF to help children in Japan. In addition to the auction, Mini USA will sell vinyl wraps of the KISS designs and will donate the funds raised to the relief efforts in Japan.
