The sixth-generation Volkswagen Passat has a redesigned engine and body, and has added several new features to it, such as Bluetooth technology, automatic distance control and a new sound system.

The redesign begins with a new, easily-recognizable front grille, which was hinted at on Volkswagen's Concept R and Concept C vehicles. This Passat is the first VW production vehicle to use the new grille.

The Passat has grown in length (by 62 mm.), width (by 74 mm.) and height (by 10 mm.). The 2,610 mm. wheelbase has also grown by 6 mm.

The interior is more driver-oriented, according to Volkswagen, and the company has even given the owner the ability to choose between four different colour schemes on four different trim levels.

A new feature never before used on another Volkswagen vehicle is the electronic parking break, which comes standard. It can be engaged and disengaged at the touch of a button. This electronic brake is also linked to other braking systems meaning it can perform other functions such as auto release (for hill starts) and vehicle hold. This function eliminates the need for the driver to keep the brake pedal depressed at traffic lights.

Also included in the new Passat is a start-button ignition, a 600-watt sound system, a 230-volt power supply for those who need to charge their laptop, and bi-xenon adaptive headlights that turn with the direction of the car.
