How soon we forget ... that among GM's large trucks, it's still focused on the small car market. If you need proof, look no further than the brand new 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. Chevrolet challenges other competitors in this popular car market by offering 'generous features usually seen in more expensive cars and a more confident, dynamic driving experience.'

The newest Aveo has been redesigned inside and out only two-and-a-half years after its initial launch. This new version includes a jack for iPods, options like a sunroof and six-CD changer as well as steering-wheel mounted audio and cruise controls.

The exterior features 'V'-shaped linest that lead directly to a chrome-accented grille, three-dimensional headlamps, available fog lamps and round taillamps, which are set within jeweled bezels. To help with the Aveo's aerodynamic design, the radio antennae has been incorporated directly into the rear glass. Add-ons include chrome door handles and body-color foldaway outside mirrors.

Climb inside the 2007 Aveo, and occupants will find what GM calls a 'tall car' design, which will accomodate people over six feet tall in any seating position. GM also says that sound-dampening technologies have been included to reduce noise in the cabin, especially at higher speeds.

Seats feature tilting headrests, wood-grain-style trim, perforated leatherette seating and dual visor vanity mirrors. Theatre-style rear seating allows for a great view for rear passengers. These seats split 60/40 and the trunk offers 12.4 cubic feet of storage space, an increase over the previous model.

Powering the sedan is a four-cylinder engine that produces 103-horsepower and 107 lbs.-ft. of torque. It comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic.

As far as safety is concerned, the '07 Aveo is surrounded by a high-steel structure that creates a safety cage around the passenger compartment. It also comes standard with dual front air bags and seat-mounted side-impact air bags. Depending on the severity of the crash, the air bags will deploy at different levels. An antilock braking system is optional, as is an engine immobilizer theft-deterrent system.

The 2007 Chevrolet Aveo will be available in the Summer of 2006 in LS and LT models.
