Now, that's smart. Or at least that's what Hyundai is pitching to their customers for the 2009 model year.

The automaker is kicking off this intelligent year with the new Blue Drive technology. This entails having a production gas-electric Sonata Hybrid ready for the North American Market by 2010, while "Blue" editions of the Accent and Elantra are being considered. Long term plans for the blue drive family include plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles.

On top winning AJAC's car of the year, the Hyundai Genesis is getting a sporty feel for 2010. The new Genesis Coupe will be Hyundai's second rear wheel drive sports car and will put out an impressive 210-horsepower with its 2.0-liter inline four cylinder turbocharged engine. Hyundai says this car should compete with vehicles such as the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Infiniti G37, while maintaining a low sticker price of $24,495 to start.
