Honda President and CEO Manabu Nishimae expressed his thanks to all Canadians in Honda’s 40th year of operation in Canada. Canadians bought 140,000 Honda and Acura vehicles in 2009, and Nishimae also said that Acura would get its first hybrid in the near future.

On the Honda front, the big news is the debut of the Honda CR-Z in Canada. The CR-Z will go on sale in the late summer, and it is a very sharp looking two-seater (a-la-CRX from years back). Executive Vice President Jerry Chenkin explained that hybrid and sporty can go together, and that is the theory behind the CR-Z.

Honda did show a new commercial that will be airing next month that features Honda’s Asimo robot doing some very Canadian activities. A late addition to the Honda booth was the Compass Racing Honda Civic Si Grand Am car which is fresh off a win at Daytona a few weeks ago.
