Based on its all-new TL luxury performance sedan, the TL A-SPEC Concept is Acura’s latest expression of blending its comfortable touring sedans with its high performance racing experience.

The TL’s already wide stance has been widened by nearly two inches for a more stable stance during high-speed handling manoeuvres. To promote this new agility and further a notion of muscularity, the A-SPEC adds 21-inch alloy wheels, high performance rubber and bulging fender flares.

The front fascia has adopted a meaner demeanour, with a redesigned bumper, more angular headlights, an enhanced signature Acura grille and larger lower air intakes. At the rear, the trunk lid features an integrated functional spoiler, redesigned bumper housing larger, high flow exhaust tips, and new taillights.

The TL’s 3.2-litre V6 engine is fitted with a high flow intake and exhaust, as well as internal engine modifications, to raise horsepower to over 300 for A-SPEC uniqueness. Brembo brake components, including 8-piston calliper, and 15-inch drilled rotors, ensure the TL A-SPEC Concept is reined in as easily as it’s spurred on. A high performance suspension package includes racetrack-tuned shocks and springs that lower the car by one inch. This not only adds to the muscular presence of the A-SPEC, but also enhances its handling precision.

To give occupants a breathtaking view from their racecar-cockpit-like confines, a glass roof flows along the length of the cabin. The racing-inspired cockpit is clothed in premium Matador Red leather. The custom designed front seats not only provide optimum support during handling manoeuvres, but are also fitted with heating and cooling vents to ensure the driver and front passenger stay alert and refreshed. Carbon/Kevlar racing steering wheel and lightweight aluminum sport pedals further the racecar feel while delivering a highly tactile feel to help enhance control over the car. The upper headliner is finished in ultra suede trim while the door panels and center console feature carbon/Kevlar and aluminum accents.

Among the notable features on the TL A-SPEC Concept are Adaptive Cruise Control (which uses laser radar in the grille to maintain distance from the car in front of it by controlling the accelerator and brake as needed) and a rearview camera integrated into the trunk lid (for parking assist in reverse).

There are no immediate plans to turn the A-SPEC Concept into a production model, as there is already an A-SPEC accessory package that adds a body kit, lowers the suspension and adds larger tires (18 inchers).
