Under the watchful eye of Design Director Ian Callum, Jaguar has introduced the Jaguar Advanced Lightweight Coupe to the world, and Callum himself can barely contain his excitement.

'The XK120 was a ground-breaker and of course the E-type and XJ6 saloon in the 1960s helped to change the face of motoring. These were events in automotive design history that have stood the test of time and I would like to think that we will look back on the Advanced Lightweight Coupe as another of those moments in Jaguar's lineage.'

From a design standpoint, the 2+2 Advanced Lightweight Coupe appears to have no overhang beyond the wheels. Callum says that Jaguars should 'appear powerful as well as elegant,' and that was his aim for this latest Jaguar concept.

It rides on 21-inch alloy wheels with custom Pirelli tires. The car's grille hints at the future look of Jaguar. There are also polished aluminum gills sitting behind the front wheels that reinforce the engineering integrity present in all Jaguars and will help aid in engine cooling.

The headlights are also different from the usual elliptical lenses found on other Jaguars. There new look and placement is to draw your eye around the car to it's side and rear.

Commenting on the interior, Callum said 'We all agreed that our interiors should be clean, simple and straightforward. There is an honesty about the car's interior which I really like.'

The seats are covered in tan leather, with multi-directional sports seats up front and two bucket seats in the rear. For the first time in any Jaguar, there are paddles behind the steering wheel to adjust the automatic transmission.

The actual body of the car has aluminum architecture that is about 40 percent lighter and 60 percent stiffer than a standard steel body. It houses a V-8 engine and Jaguar says it would be capable of reaching 60 mph in under five seconds.

Also included in the Advanced Lightweight Coupe is adaptive cruise control and an adjustable pedal box.
