Another concept making it's Canadian debut at the 2005 Auto Show in Toronto is the Lexus LF-X. If you're wondering what type of vehicle it is and what the 'LF-X' stands for, those questions have the same answer - Lexus Future Crossover.

"We wanted to develop a next-generation SUV concept that would help lead us into the future of luxury sport utility vehicles," said Calty Design Research, Inc. Vice President Kevin Hunter. Calty is the company that designed the LF-X.

This new crossover concept is an all-wheel drive vehicle powered by a 4.3-litre V8 engine - mated to a five-speed automatic transmission - that produces 300-horsepower. It also has a height-adjustable suspension for different performance needs.

As with other Lexus concepts being made, the LF-X follows the L-Finesse design philosophy. L-Finesse is being used to put more passion into the lineup, according to Lexus. Characteristics of this design style include innovation, confidence, dynamic posture, intriguing elegance and the infusion of technology.

Similar again to many Lexus vehicles, the LF-X is no stranger to technology. The driver-oriented cockpit includes an instrument panel with displays and information that can be customized by the driver. Readouts can be scaled, repositioned, and color-adjusted for individual preference. There are small cameras on the side and rear of the vehicle that feed their images to the display inside.

The LF-X features three rows of seating - the third row is designed for children and a DVD screen flips down from the centre console to entertain the rear passengers.
