Scion's latest vehicle has arrived at the New York International Auto Show and it looks to be even more youth-oriented than its three current models. The Scion t2B, which is short for Tall Two-Box, is an ultra high-tech vehicle with a look similar to the boxy Honda Element.

There is no B-pillar or door handles on the t2B. The passenger side incorporates a power-sliding side door for entry while the driver side door incorporates two remote-controlled suicide doors. They can manually swing open 180 degrees.

The t2B has a design theme used similarly in houses with bay windows. Just as bay windows help make homes look more spacious, the t2B's windows makes the vehicle seem roomier. Another design cue used to give it a more spacious look is the large wraparound windshield that almost combines with the side windows.

After stepping inside the t2B, passengers and driver will notice a tall roof for plenty of head room and a moonroof with two fixed-glass panels that run nearly the entire length of the roof. Rear seats are slightly higher than the front for a stadium-like feel. The seats are made of brushed blue steel leather and are integrated with the floor. Carpet can be found through long floorboard slots.

The front instrument panel continues the high-tech look of the newest Scion. It consists of three levels, one of which houses an information ticker which is hooked up to the Internet, giving passengers the ability to download movies, games and music. The t2B's rear window doubles as a projection screen for movies, games and screensavers and can be seen from both the inside and outside. To assist gamers, the rear cargo area has outlets for gaming systems. Speakers are integrated into the suicide doors so if watching a movie or playing a video game outside, the doors can be swung outward, in effect making the t2B an entire entertainment centre.

The front of the car houses high-intensity discharge headlamps and a single foglamp sits on the lower radiator grille, which according to Scion provides the intensity of two foglamps.

The t2B uses an all-new platform and is powered by a 2.4-litre four cylinder engine that's mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and uses 20-inch polished-billet aluminum wheels.

Scion also created two small-scale variations of the t2B to further illustrate Scion's vision of forward-thinking. The other models are the sport-themed Fastback and the utility-themed Cargo.
