An all-wheel drive Mitsubishi hybrid concept will be making its world debut at the 2006 North American International Auto Show.

The Concept-CT MIEV will feature a gasoline engine as well as Mitsubishi In-wheel motor Electronic Vehicle (MIEV) technology, which was introduced at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. With this technology, all four wheels are by four outer-rotor, in-wheel electric motors. The concept uses a lithium-ion battery system to drive all four wheels.

Mitsubishi describes the Concept-CT MIEV as 'a desirable small car optimized for today's needs.' The company is looking at the sport compact category because of its fast growth in North America. The concept was designed by Mitsubishi Motors' design studio based in Cypress, California.
