Hyundai introduced the world to its future at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show — the NEOS 3 Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) concept that combines the utility of a 4WD truck with the opulent look and feel of a luxury sedan.

Spindle-shaped character lines run the length of NEOS' exterior, while the simple rear bodywork minimizes drag coefficient. Door-integrated side mirrors help keep aedorynamic drag low and auto-dip in reverse to help avoid curbs and other low obstacles.

The front grille and headlights incorporate advanced safety features, such as pre-crash sensors and proximity control using Extended High Frequency radar, an infrared night vision system, and steering directed beams. Further, forward cameras provide extended visibility to the left and right.

Power comes from a newly developed 4.6-litre 32-valve V8 mated to an electronically controlled 5-speed automatic.

The interior features a three-zone design with the front seats (the excitement zone) designed for pure driving enjoyment, second-row seats (the comfort zone) meant for enjoying travel as if being transported in a private jet, and the third-row (the versatile zone) designed to that accommodate both passengers and luggage.

Up front, the large display is packed with information technologies, while control switches are clustered in the center console. Adding a new dimension to the vehicle interface is a Heads-Up Display and trackball combination to offer centralized control of the climate regulation, navigation and entertainment systems. Night vision and rear camera images are displayed on a large 11-inch LCD screen in the center stack, while a multi-meter module tracks critical vehicle functions allowing the driver to be constantly informed about vehicle status and driving conditions.

NEOS is the third in a signature series of futuristic concept cars to be styled at the company's Design Center in Korea.
