Mere weeks after the global unveiling its C30, Volvo showed off three ultimate expressions of the new coupe/hatchback at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The three cars, all highly modified iterations of the production Volvo C30, are the separate visions of Evolve Cars, ipd and Heico Sportiv and Burton Snowboards. They represent what could be the ultimate dream cars for the growing number of C30 enthusiasts around the world.

"The C30 represents Volvo's most appealing offer to the young people who love to customize and personalize their rides," commented Hans Krondahl, Executive Vice President, Marketing, for Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA).

Volvo Cars supplied each company with a production C30 T5 with a 6-speed manual transmission and gave them only one rule to follow: all Volvo safety features must remain functional. Other than that, they were free to let their imaginations run.

The Evolve C30 is the ultimate street performer and track star with motorsports technology throughout. Sequential twin turbos, exotic exhaust plumbing and an advanced heat exchanger promise eye-popping performance and deliver, with 507 ponies stampeeding out of all four wheels. Sophisticated race-inspired suspension, gigantic brakes and a screaming yellow high gloss paint scheme over wild body lines highlight the Evolve C30. Inside, highly bolstered seats keep occupants in place while the Evolve C30 goes about its fun. A safety structure ensures security at maximum performance and custom leather touches take the experience to an upscale level.

A joint collaboration between German tuner Heico Sportiv and Burton Snowboards, this C30 grants those with an active lifestyle a chance to fulfill it in sporty elegance. Electronically-controlled all-wheel drive using the engine supplied 300 horses will take this C30 wherever it needs to go, while a height adjustable suspension and custom cut Toyo tires insure no obstacle is too big to overcome. A 6-layer camouflage paint job allows the car to blend into the mountain wilderness while the roof rack allows easy carrying of your sporting weapons of choice. Inside, there's a portable GPS system to make sure you always know where you are, and gleaming 2008 Burton snowboards and boots to allow you to have fun when you get there.

High tech and high style come through in the International Product Development (IPD) C30 draped in the colours of the Swedish flag. With its supercharged engine producing 384 hp, the ipd C30 retains its factory front-drive layout and offers up plenty of electronic fun in a thoroughly custom fabricated interior, highlighted by a touch screen in the floating center stack and a heads-up instrument display. But the eye-catching features are the fully functioning gull-wing doors.

Volvo has no plans to market any of the custom C30s.
