Honda is showing off a totally new look for the next-generation Accord (for model year 2008), evidenced in the Accord Coupe Concept revealed at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

A long hood, deeply sculpted lower body and fastback roofline conveys a powerful stance. A 6-sided grille separates projector headlamps recessed deep into the front fenders to contribute an aggressive front fascia. Quad exhaust outlets integrated into the rear diffuser convey performance and street attitude representative of a sport compact.

“The all-new Honda Accord is designed to set new benchmarks for safety, efficiency, performance, refinement and style in its segment,” said Jim Miller, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc.

A more powerful and lower-emissions V6 will provide higher fuel efficiency thanks to Honda’s next-generation Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology, which deactivates three of the engine’s six cylinders during cruising and deceleration.

More details will become available as the Accord nears its launch date in the fall of 2007.

Launched in 2003, the current generation Accord has won numerous awards including the 2003 "Best New Family Vehicle", as voted on by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).
