Mitsubishi is giving Evo fans a glimpse at the future of their compact four door sports car early in 2007.

The Prototype-X is based on the new Lancer being released but adds, predictably, a higher performance look. It's fitted with Mitsubishi's all-wheel drive system known as Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC), a turbocharged MIVEC2 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Prototype-X concept will be shown alongside the new Lancer at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Evo X models for Canada are slated to go into production in November 2007.
