A little bit minivan, a little bit SUV and a lot of utility, the Nissan Bevel is sure to turn heads at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit; those who are active and into recreation should keep a close eye on this six-seater.

The Bevel opens tall and wide, making it easy to place large objects inside. The two passenger rear side doors are hinged from the rear, while the rear hatch is hinged horizontally, allowing for a tall opening.

Bevel includes a pair of power outlets – a traditional 12V outlet and a 110V power tool recharging outlet, which is powered by Bevel's integrated solar cells mounted beneath the large glass roof panels. It also has concealed LED headlights and projector fog lights in the grille and LED taillights integrated into the tailgate surround. There is also a recessed rear license plate holder and hidden exhaust outlets

The inside of the Bevel features a driver's area that includes an instrument panel that moves four inches forward or back depending on if the driver's door is open or closed. Additionally, pedals move forward or back in the same fashion and can adjust to the driver's position. There is also a 'command central' information/technlogy zone that has a series of screens which display images from breakaway fibre-optic side mirror cameras and for five information menus (Vehicle Information, HVAC, Navigation, Entertainment and Home).

The Bevel is also plugged into the Internet from the Entertainment Control centre, where the driver has access to phone settings, weather and traffic reports, personal e-mail accounts and music. Nissan says the driver would also have access to a home network where they could monitor locks and security system, heat and air conditioning, appliances, room lighting and garage door status.

Another interesting feature in the Bevel is the utility/pet zone, where users can keep their pets nice and cozy. It features a 360-degree pet leash swivel connection point and a large, removable pet carrier designed to fit securely in the rear cargo area.

The rear benches fold completely flat, as does the front passenger seat, and the flooring itself is constructed from laminated recycled walnut, creating an extremely hard, workbench-like surface.

Nissan says that 'conceptually, Bevel would feature a small, efficient 2.5-liter V6 with HEV, combining driving pleasure with environmentally friendly design,' and features drive-by-wire throttle, steering and braking.
