Looking very similar to the race-inspired FX crossover, the Infiniti EX concept is the precursor to the production model of the finished EX product.

While attaining all the usual highlights of a crossover - more car-like ride, more utility than a coupe or sedan - the EX concept also includes some technology that is brand new to Nissan. The Infiniti Around View Monitor utilizes small front, side and rear-mounted cameras to project an all-around view of potential objects on every side of the vehicle – helping reduce blind spots when parking.

The Lane Departure Prevention system is an extension of the company's current Lane Departure Warning system. The Prevention system, though, uses the vehicle’s Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system to help assist the driver in maintaining lane position if the vehicle inadvertently starts to drift outside of the lane.

The concept, which was created at the Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan, features a coupe-inspired exterior, with sleek lines that portray speed, grace and finesse according to Infiniti. But like any good crossover, it also combines ample interior roominess, optimized seating height and luggage space of an SUV.

The exterior has several Infiniti hallmarks, including the the double-arch grille, large L-shaped headlights and integrated fog lights. On the flipside, the EX concept includes some features that are unique just to the concept, including all-in-one sash-style side door mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, and electric outside door handles with push switches. The EX Concept also includes 19-inch 7-spoke aluminum alloy wheels mounted with 19-inch tires.

The interior sees plenty of leather - both on the seats and in places like the centre console - as well as an LCD monitor and the signature Infiniti analog clock.

"The EX Concept’s interior is all about driving pleasure and passenger comfort," said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager, Infiniti Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "Like the exterior, it offers a coupe-like feel but surprising utility – ideal for today's active lifestyles."

The EX Concept shares the same platform and powertrain as other Infiniti products like the M, FX and G coupe and sedan. The concept's wheelbase has been shortened to 112-inches and the crossover is powered by a V6 engine, which is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The EX also includes an all-wheel drive system.
