The first press conference of the 2008 Geneva Show kicked off at a bright and early 8:00 am, with Nissan’s executive VP Carlos Tavares exuberant over the state of affairs at Nissan.

Its no secret the Japanese manufacturer is still on a roll, and with global sales of over 3.7 million vehicles in fiscal 2007 they aren’t looking for it to end anytime soon.

The big talker of the conference here in Geneva was the GT-R. Of course, this is nothing new to Autonet readers (we first saw the GT-R last year at the Chicago auto show), but this is a first for Europe.

The company will star taking orders from European customers in early spring (April), though delivery won’t be until roughly a full year from now. Frightening price for the new supercar, too; with the buy-in staring at 74,990 Euros

The conference also featured a showing of the next-generation Murano - very much the same under the hood with its 3.5 litre V6 and CVT, and with some nice refinement to the sheet metal.

The conclusion to the Nissan presser was what delighted me, as I always come to any auto show to see the flying bubble-cars, and I was not disappointed. Check the photos of the Pivo 2 concept.

Intended as an electric car (and Nissan does say they will have a small-volume electric on the roads by 2010), I can only hope the final production car will be as bizarre as the Pivo.
