Senior exec Toshihiro Suzuki introduced Suzuki’s conference in Geneva by playing to the fans of World Cup. The company is an official sponsor for the European qualifiers this year, and while it’s going big in the sporting world, it’s going small on the roads on this side of the Atlantic.

Minicars are the rage in Europe - always has been a reliable market segment - and Suzuki is experiencing brisk sales in the small car niche.

Its latest tiny marque to go on sale is the Splash – a tall-bodied, short-length runabout that promises significant fuel savings and lowered emissions (to say nothing of the ease of parking)

And with a nod to the ever-expanding Asian markets, Suzuki also showed its Concept A-Star small car.

The A-Star will be produced in India, beginning at the end of this year, as a joint venture between Indian and Japanese designers; and the company has high hopes for the cross-cultural appeal of the venture.
