New challenge for Dodge pony car

Just when you thought you had jumped the gun on the most powerful Challenger available, the folks at SRT Engineering go one better – the SRT10.

Mind you, it’s still a “halo” concept but the idea is to fit in the Dodge Viper’s 8.4-litre, all-aluminum V10 and all its 600 horses and 560 lb.-ft. of torque. Cover it in a fresh coat of Tornado Red paint and to reduce weight change over the deck lid and hood panels to carbon-fibre, cutting a hole in the hood to tie back to the shaker hood of the 1970 HEMI Cuda.

Bring those ponies to life through a red engine start push-button and once you get them galloping, reign them in with BILSTEIN shocks at all four corners, or whoa them to a stop with upgraded brakes.

And finish it all off with a little interior ambience courtesy of sport seats and carbon-fibre panels.

The Challenger SRT10 Concept will be unveiled at the 2008 SEMA aftermarket show in Las Vegas.
