Where there's Blue Will, there's Hyundai

Clouds of acrid dry ice smoke surrounding the stage created a somewhat inauspicious debut for the Hyundai Blue Will hybrid -as it sat plugged in and supposedly simulating a clean recharging.

Representing the next generation of Hyundai's sustainable mobility, the Blue Will's fuel range is a projected 100 mpg. A lithium fuel cell powered 134 hp electric motor, is coupled with a 1.6 litre gas engine mated to a CVT.

A thermal generator will re-use otherwise wasted engine bay heat to warm the cabin.

The body panels are bioplastics reinforced with carbon fiber for lightweight, and Hyundai states that by 2015, there will be a weight reduction of 10% across their lineup.

Introduced by Scott Marguson, Product Planning Director, the new Santa Fe made its North American debut. It's the first representation of their new "Fluidic Sculpture" design philosophy.

Underhood are two new engine choices: a 2.4 L 4 cylinder with a 28 mpg rating, and a 3.5 litre V6 with 15% better fuel economy than its predecessor.
