BMW X6 - We start with what's sure to be one of the more controversial picks on this list. That being said, we love how BMW managed to pull off such a great mix of the rugged and sporty with the X6. It has a powerful, confident stance to go along with the well-known current BMW hallmarks, like the split grille up front. A winner from every angle.

Ford Mustang - No matter what muscle car you grew up loving - even if you have no interest in muscle cars - there's no denying just how great a job Ford did with the fifth-generation Mustang that was released for the 2005 model year. A fantastic mix of the old and the new made for a look that was loved by fans and critics alike. It was only a matter of time until Chevrolet and Dodge came out with their own retro-flavoured muscle cars. Even now, neither looks as good as the Mustang.

Infiniti FX - Unmistakeable with its big, mean, aggressive snout, the FX may be a crossover, but its styling reminds us of a sports car, with its long front end and shorter rear end, big wheels and low-to-the-ground stance. It has only become meaner looking since its inception in 2003, and there's no doubt that its looks only hint at how it drives.

Jaguar XF-R - Jaguar's mission is simple - to make beautiful, fast cars, and what better example of that in the last decade than the XF-R? After some less-than-stellar designs in the early part of the 21st century, the XF models were a return to form, and the ultra-powerful XF-R in particular means business with its dual-twin exhausts and sophisticated yet mean looking front end. Beautiful, indeed.

Lexus IS - After years of playing it safe, Lexus introduced a new design language on many of its vehicles in the middle of the decade called L-Finesse. Of all the redesigned cars, the least-expensive IS was the one to reap the most benefits. Sporty-looking and youthful, the IS drew in all kinds of customers, both young and old who couldn't resists its sexy looks. Lexus dialed up the aggressiveness a few years later with the performance-minded IS-F.

Mitsubishi Lancer - If you want to look great driving a car, and not spend a fortune doing so, look no further than Mitsubishi's eight-generation Lancer. It has natural good looks that don't need the help of skirts, aprons, chrome or spoilers to look aggressive and modern. That being said, adding appearance modifications like the Lancer Evolution's big gaping grille doesn't hurt things at all. Absolutely one of our favourites from the last decade.

Nissan GT-R - Polarizing, yes, but there's no doubt the GT-R supercar garners plenty of attention on roads thanks to its sharp angles and unconventional styling. It's certainly a far cry from past models in the lineup, and hints strongly at what the vehicle is capable of doing on the road. Kudos to Nissan for taking a chance and trying something different.

Pontiac Solstice - The concept for this roadster made a huge splash when it was introduced at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Visitors were taken aback by this gorgeous little car, especially considering Pontiac at the time wasn't exactly known for vehicles that were lookers. It was a no-brainer, then, for GM to put the car into production. It didn't last long, but while it was around, it was one of the best-looking vehicles on the road.

Porsche Cayman - With all due respect to the Carrera, Boxster, Panamera and Cayenne, there's something about the little Cayman that causes us to crane our necks every time we see one on the road. It has those unmistakeable Porsche headlights and big hips, but there's something about the very shape of it that brings a smile to a driver's face. Every inch of it is a Porsche, and its low stance just exudes fun. A knockout.

Volkswagen Passat CC - Volkswagen builds some great vehicles, but they're typically not the kind to turn heads on the street. That changed with the introduction of the Passat CC, a '4-door coupe' with styling that makes it look more like a vehicle in VW's luxury brand, Audi. The design of the CC earned it awards when it was launched, and is sure to hold up for years to come.
