2012 Ford Focus
Why it's awesome: Finally, at long last, North Americans are treated to the same Focus drivers in other continents have had for years. This is a true global car, meaning it hasn't been altered (too much) for the North American consumer. Ford promises this will be a fun, fuel efficient vehicle with plenty of quality to spare.

2012 Land Rover Evoque
Why it's awesome: The Evoque just looks light years ahead of any other Land Rover that's ever been made. A true beauty, it'll be interesting to see how the vehicle drives, and if it's anywhere close to as offroad-worthy as other Land Rovers have historically been. It's a departure to say the least, but we have a feeling it'll end up being a success story.

2012 Audi A7
Why it's awesome: Audi has a lineup of great-looking vehicles, and the coupe-like four-door A7 is just the latest stunner. It doesn't completely break the bank, so if you want something that will get you noticed, look no further than this.

2012 Scion iQ
Why it's awesome: Scion exists to cater to young drivers, and the iQ is sure to continue doing just that. There are more and more subcompact vehicles hitting the North American market, but the iQ takes "small" to a whole other level. This tiny car is sure to appeal to Canadians especially, and if other Scions are any indication, customization will play a big part in ownership as well.

2012 Infiniti M35h
Why it's awesome: The buzz we've been hearing is that this is a heck of a way for Infiniti to debut a hybrid into its lineup. Anyone who knows the "M" name, knows just how luxurious and powerful it is, but it looks like the hybrid model isn't going to be dumbed down any. It still strikes an imposing stance, and it still has power to spare, but now, it'll be a little more fuel-efficient to boot.

2012 BMW X1
Why it's awesome: It's tough to argue just how much fun BMW vehicles are to drive, and with this new smallest model in the automaker's all-wheel drive "X" SUV stable, drivers will have the chance to control something that's a ton of fun, while still being able to fit more than two people inside.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic
Why it's awesome: The nu-Aveo, Chevrolet's Sonic makes its entrance when the subcompact market is exploding in North America. We've already seen the Mazda2 and Ford Fiesta, among others. With the new Hyundai Accent on its way, and even more waiting in the wings, it will be very interesting to see how the Sonic holds up against intense competition. Considering GM's recent track record (Chevrolet Cruze and Cadillac CTS Coupe to name a couple), we have a...

2012 Hyundai Veloster
Why it's awesome: You don't see a heck of a lot of three-door coupes (?) on the road these days, but that's in essence what the Veloster is. It's a big departure for the automaker, but it promises some interesting powertrains, and if its looks are any indication, it should be fun to drive as well. There's no doubt you'll turn heads while driving this thing.

2012 Fiat 500
Why it's awesome: A tiny vehicle that's affordable, and more importantly, has a true sense of personality! With the Chrysler PT Cruiser gone, the Mini Cooper losing a bit of its lustre, and the newest Volkswagen Beetle still months away, the 500 is just the thing to garner some interest for those consumers who want something that really stands out in the crowd. The 500 coupe does that no problem, and the convertible promises even more.

2011 Nissan Leaf
Why it's awesome: Okay, technically this is a 2011 model, but Canadians aren't likely to see it very much earlier than 2012. Mass-market plug-in electric vehicles are gaining momentum, but there's something about the Leaf that has us very excited. It has some nice style along with great standard and optional accessories (including cold weather stuff that Canadians are sure to appreciate).
