Don't tailgate - Few things are as annoying and stressful as the person who is driving a few feet behind you, especially at highway speeds where even a slight miscalculation can cause a collision. If you're a slower driver, it's best to stay out of the far left lane, but if you happen upon someone not passing anyone in the passing lane, drive around them. It shows you're the bigger person.

Use your turn indicator - Turn signal, blinker, flicker ... whatever you call your turn indicator, it doesn't matter, just as long as you use it! Help other drivers in distress - This is especially important in the winter, where freezing conditions not only make things uncomfortable, they pose a health risk. And how about just not smoking in the car in the first place?

Use the "thank you" wave often - The simplest thing a driver can do to show that he or she has noticed - and appreciates - the actions of another driver. Even if the driver has done something expected, such as letting a person in from a merging lane, it's still a nice gesture. And this world could use more nice gestures.

Get off the phone - Talking or texting while behind the wheel is not only dangerous to the driver, it's dangerous to everyone around him or her as well. It shows a complete lack of courtesy for others on the road, and it also spits in the face of cell phone laws that currently exist in most provinces and states. Think of yourself and everyone else, and put the phone down while driving.

Don't park too close to other vehicles - It's no fun returning to your parked car to find it only a few centimetres away from the vehicle in front of it or behind it - or both - when there was no one near you when you first left it. Parking in some busy cities can be as competitive as passing someone in Formula 1, but try to think of the vehicles you're placing your vehicle near first.

Dial back the aggression - People tend to get overly-aggressive when behind the wheel, but yelling, honking and giving dirty looks does absolute nothing to make things more pleasant while driving. Traffic jams and bad drivers can be frustrating, but try your best to take a deep breath, but on relaxing music, and remember that you won't be in your car forever.
