It was announced at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show that Porsche will indeed be producing a hybrid version of its Cayenne SUV, which has been rumoured for several months now.

According to Porsche, the hybrid Cayenne will cut fuel consumption by up to 15 percent. The hybrid system is being developed with Volkswagen Group and will be a full hybrid, meaning it will have a gasoline engine and an electric motor that can be used together or independently of each other.

The company has been looking at gas-electric hybrids because it won't be offering any diesel models.
