The title of "Fastest SUV in the World" has been awarded to a modified Porsche Cayenne Turbo, in a collaboration between aftermarket modifier SPORTEC and Toyo Tires.

Driven by Andreas Hodel on a high-speed oval in Northern Germany, the Cayenne Turbo SP600M reached an unprecedented speed of 308.435 km/h, beating the previous record of 282 km/h held by a KLEEMANN Mercedes ML55K since 2003. The sprint to 100 km/h took 4.2 seconds, and 200 km/h was reached in 14.6.

SPORTEC, a Swiss company that specializes in transforming high-end vehicles for optimum performance, pushed the Cayenne Turbo engine's output to 689 hp (from 450) and 627 lbs.ft of torque (from 460). Toyo's Proxes S/T Tires were chosen for their combination of superb handling, confident performance and assured stability.
