Does the thought of an AMG 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine that can launch a car from 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds make you slightly sweaty?

If so, you may want to take a look at the brand new 2007 Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG, Mercedes' latest S-Class vehicle that was introduced at the 2006 North American International Auto Show.

The new S 65 features new high-performance AMG composite brakes with twin sliding calipers at the front, a standard sports suspension, 19-inch light-alloy wheels, AMG steering wheel paddles and a race timer if you ever want to test just how fast it can go.

The S 65 AMG has three different transmission shift settings - 'sport,' 'comfort' and 'manual' - that change both the transmission characteristics as well as the accelerator response and the spring/damper settings of the AMG sports suspension. The conventional automatic gear shift selector usually found on the centre console is replaced by a lever on the steering column, which the driver uses to change from park to neutral to drive, etc.

This transmission is combined with The AMG sports suspension with the Active Body Control system, which helps to greatly reduce body roll around bends.

Each V12 AMG engine is assembled from start to finish by a single technician - documented with the technician's signature on the engine plate.

The sport exhaust system features twin chrome tailpipes and makes a deep growl. The new tri-metallic coating used in the catalytic converters provides a faster response from a cold start, improved emission control as well as longer life according to Mercedes-Benz.

In terms of styling, the S 65 AMG exterior features pronounced flared wheel arches, redesigned AMG front apron with enlarged air intakes for a more athletic look and two slanted struts and integrated round fog lamps set in chrome rings for an even wider and lower-looking vehicle.

The interior includes a large AMG logo in the AMG instrument cluster's centre display, burr walnut trim, leather upholstery and AMG dynamic sports seats as well as an analog clock in the centre console.
