Volvo has released photos of its next-generation 2007 S80 luxury sedan, a vehicle that features standard all-wheel drive in Canada and a choice of two engines.

Volvo says the new S80 radiates 'Scandanavian luxury,' which combines aesthetics and technology in an inviting and intelligent way. Steve Mattin, Volvo Cars' design director, says that designers have given the new S80 a 'more youthful and dynamic stance.' Inside, refined materials and colours are combined with smart, user-friendly technology according to the company.

The 2007 S80 can be equipped with an optional Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept (Four-C) active chassis. Four-C, which was introduced in 2003 with the S60 R and V70 R, automatically adjusts chassis settings to better suit the current driving conditions.

Other standard equipment that can be found on the S80 is Dynamic Stability and Traction Control. For the first time in a Volvo model, the S80 will have an available adaptive cruise control system with collision warning and brake support. Also available will be an adaptive bi-xenon headlight system, where the headlights move to the left or right depending on how the driver turns the steering wheel.

The compact, transversely-mounted V8 engine that was first introduced in the 2005 XC90 will be available in the S80. It produces 311-horsepower and 325 lbs.-ft. of torque. In addition to this, the sedan will have a standard 3.2-litre 6-cylinder engine which produces 232 horsepower and 221 lbs.-ft. of torque.

The new S80 will even have a heartbeat sensor which warns the keyholder if someone is hiding in the car.

Expect the S80 to go on sale in the second half of 2006 in Canada.
