Lexus makes big on its 'pursuit of perfection' by adding more power to the already big-selling RX SUV.

The RX gets a displacement increase of .2-litres for 2007 with the emergencence of the Lexus RX350. The bigger V6 engine means more horsepower (270-hp) and torque (251 lbs.-ft.) to go along with its variable valve timing with intelligence and 5-speed automatic transmission.

As with any Lexus product, standard luxury features on the RX350 are plentiful. These include an eight-speaker, six CD audio system, leather interior, keyless remote entry, power tilt/telescope steering wheel, woodgrain trim, headlamp washers, 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, rain sensing wipers and auto-dimming, heated exterior mirrors.

Three other trim levels are available. The Luxury package adds a power moonroof with sunshade while the Premium package adds features such as a wood and leather-wrapped steering wheel, power rear tailgate and adaptive front lighting system with high-intensity discharge headlamps. Last, the Ultra Premium package adds things such as a Mark Levinson 11-speaker audio system, rear seat DVD entertainment system, navigation system and backup camera. The Premium and Ultra Premium packages also have available 18-inch wheels and tires.

Safety features included in the 2007 RX350 include a full-time four-wheel drive system coupled with an antilock braking system with electronic brake force distribution, brake assist and tire pressure monitoring system. The driver and front passengers get multi-stage airbags, side front airbags, driver's knee airbag and roll-sensing front and rear head/side curtain airbags.

The RX350 will be built in Toyota's Cambridge, Ontario manufacturing plant. The base manufacturer's retail price for the base model will start at $51,550. The RX 350 Luxury package is priced at $54,500, while MSRP for the RX 350 equipped with the Premium package starts at $56,550. The Ultra-Premium package starts at an MSRP of $64,050.
