Based on the GT3, the new 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a street legal coupe that is just as at home on the race track as it is on the highway, and will be available in North America in the spring of 2007.

The GT3 RS is based on the 911 Carrera 4 models but is 44 mm. wider than the GT3. It's also lighter than the GT3 thanks to the use of a carbon fiber composite for the front lid, and an adjustable carbon fiber wing. Racing modifications on the GT3 RS include the rear wheel carrier, split rear-suspension wishbones, and the carbon-fiber components.

The GT3 RS houses a 3.6-litre flat-six cylinder Boxer engine that produces 415 horsepower at 7,600 rpm. It has an 8,400 rpm redline.

It will be available in black or silver, though an optional orange or green paintjob will be available. All vehicle insignia and the wheels themselves are styled in orange or black to contrast with the body color. The GT3 RS' interior, including the roof lining, steering wheel and gear shift is covered in black leather.

Pricing will be announced at a later date.
