Mazda's MX-5 roadster has one of the simplest manually-operated soft tops in the business. Now things are about to get even easier for drivers who want to drive the convertible, as Mazda has announced that its popular little vehicle will be getting a power retractable hardtop for the 2007 model year.

The new MX-5 will be introduced globally at the British International Motor Show in July. Mazda promises it will still provide 'responsive performance and roadster styling expected of a lightweight sports car.'

As with all MX-5s, the power retractable hardtop version will be known by different names depending on where you live. In North America it will be known as the Mazda MX-5 (Miata) Power Retractable Hardtop; in Europe it will be called the Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe; and in Japan it will go by the name Mazda Roadster Power Retractable Hard Top.
