Carrying over many of the design cues from the Concept Eight vehicle, and continuing the success of the limited-production XJR Super V8 Portfolio, Jaguar is releasing the XJR Portfolio for 2007. It features several noticeable design cues found on the Concept Eight, including a mesh grille, chrome-finished exhaust system and polished 20-inch Callisto wheels.

The front-end is all Jaguar, with four headlights above a deep front air intake and sculpted aluminium side power vents set the Portfolio edition apart from any other XJR. It will be available in one of four exterior colours - liquid silver, midnight black, Ebony or Blue Prism.

The interior continues this upscale design theme with new aluminium weave design or wood veneer finish for facia (dependent on market), ‘R' sports or Luxury soft-grain leather seats (dependent on market), aluminium J-gate surround, chrome and leather gearknob and leather-edged footwell mats.

Depending on the market, the interior will be upholstered in either ivory, champagne or charcoal, combined with either aluminium or walnut veneer facia and door trims. Both front and rear seats include variable heating and driver's seat has a memory function which stores the power lumbar and cushion length positions. To add to the performance aspect of the XJR Portfolio, the interior has an aluminium J-gate gearlever surround and chrome and leather gearknob.

Also 'helping' with the sportiness is a 4.2-litre turbocharged V8 that produces 400-horsepower and 408 lbs.-ft. of torque at 3,500 rpm. This powerful engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

This ability of this powertrain to get the XJR Portfolio moving is aided by all the lightweight components used in the vehicle. It's comprised of a light all-aluminum structure using full stressed-skin monocoque construction on its entire body structure, including all the outer panels. Magnesium is also used in certain areas to reduce weight. All-in-all, it's about 200 kg. lighter than the equivalent model from five years ago.

It goes from 0-60 mph in exactly five seconds and has an electronically limited maximum speed of 155mph.

The XJR portfolio uses an air suspension with Jaguar's Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) system. CATS continuously adjusts the car's damping characteristics, from firm to soft in milliseconds, to suit the driving conditions and optimise both ride and handling.

Standard on the XJR Portfolio is anti-lock brakes, emergency brake assist, electronic traction control and dynamic stability control. It also includes dual stage front airbags, chest airbags for the driver and front passenger, side curtain airbags for all passengers, an anti-whiplash mechanism in the front seats and pyrotechnic pre-tensioners for all seat belts.

The XJR Portfolio goes on sale in September 2006, dependant on market.
