For the first time in its history, the wildly popular Honda Civic Si is going to be available with four doors.

Don't think for a second that the focus of this vehicle is family-friendly space and comfort, though.

The Civic Si sedan has a 197-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC 2.0-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine with an 8,000 rpm redline. It's mated to a close-ratio, 6-speed manual transmission and a helical-type, limited slip differential to make for a thoroughly performance-minded sedan.

When you do have to drive the family around, the Civic Si sedan does include Vehicle Stability Assist as standard (which was added to the Civic Si Coupe as standard equipment for 2007), side curtain airbags, front side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), active front head restraints, and 4-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) with EBD.

Just like the coupe before it, the Civic Si sedan has some of its own exclusive exterior features, such as a low-profile rear spoiler, aero cladding and front and rear Si emblems. It rides on new, 17-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels (again, also added to the 2007 coupe) shod with performance tires.

Suspension tuning is similar to Civic Si Coupe with the same spring rates and rear stabilizer bar diameter, with slightly different damper tuning and front stabilizer bar diameter that best match the sedan's longer 106.3-inch wheelbase (2-inches longer than the coupe).

The inside of the Civic Si sedan will still be familiar to new Civic owners - no matter what version they have - thanks to the two-tier instrument panel that has a digital speedometer just above the steering wheel, and a tachometer below, right behind the steering wheel. A tilt/telescoping steering wheel comes standard, as does the 7-speaker 350-watt audio system (with subwoofer and speed-sensitive Volume Control (SVC), MP3/WMA playback capability, auxiliary audio input jack), a 60/40 split folding rear seat, one-touch power moonroof, ambient console lighting, keyless entry with security system, power windows, power locks and dual trip meter odometer. A voice-activated Satellite-Linked Navigation System is available as an option.

The Civic Si sedan is currently on sale in the US, with no plans to bring the model to Canada for the 2007 model year.
