With Maybach's brand new 62S, the 'S' stands for 'special'. As in, new 20-inch spoked wheels and a modified light-cluster design, '62S' lettering across the front wings beneath the A pillars and the boot lid and two trapezoidal exhaust pipes that Maybach says 'hints strongly at the immense performance potential of the 62 S'.

That performance comes in the form of a 6.0-litre, 12-cylinder that produces 612-horsepower thanks to a twin turbocharger and water-type intercooler. That's 62-horsepower more than the regular Maybach 62. A model plate on the cover bearing the signature of the Mercedes-AMG technician who assembled it by hand is based on the 'one man, one engine' principle. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 5.2 seconds and the vehicle has a maximum speed of 250 km/h - the maximum for chauffer-driven vehicles.

And this still is in fact a chauffeur's car. Whereas the 52S had a stiffer, lower chassis than the 52, the 62S still retains the full spring travel for a more comfortable ride, despite it being the sportier of the two. Newly designed leather upholstery can be found inside the car for extra comfort.
