Nitro is the first mid-size SUV from Dodge and carries the typical in-your-face attitude of the brand.

Available in three models: SXT, SLT and performance R/T, there's nothing shy about Nitro.

It has attitude from its crosshair grill to brawny fenders and wheels-to-the-corners stance to available 20-in. chrome wheels, which are standard on R/T and optional on SLT.

Available in 2WD or 4WD, Nitro's standard engine is a 210-hp, 3.7-L V6 with a 260-hp 4-L for R/T.

Shifting is handled by a six-speed manual on SXT, but you can get a four-speed automatic.

R/T gets a five-speed automatic.

The suspension has a new coil spring independent front setup, and new five-link coil spring directs the ride in back.

A performance setup is available on SLT with 20-in. wheels and standard on R/T.

Available technology includes entertainment systems such as CD, DVD, MP3, video entertainment system and MyGIG, a multimedia infotainment system that uses a touch screen or voice commands to control the vehicle's entertainment and communication features.

It includes a 20-gigabyte hard drive for music and photo storage.

An optional LOAD 'N GO floor features a sliding panel that holds up to 182 kg and is ideal for loading and unloading packages.

Among standard safety equipment are electronic stability program, electronic roll mitigation, all-speed traction control, brake assist, advanced anti-lock brakes and side-curtain air bags.
