Mitsubishi is showing off the subtle exterior details of the forthcoming Lancer Evolution production model that goes on sale in Canada in winter 2008.

The new car's styling direction evolved from the Concept X (introduced at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show and shown to Canadians at the 2007 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto) and later reinforced with Prototype X (2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit). The soon-to-market Lancer Evolution also evolved from over 30 years of rally racing in the deserts of the Safari Rally and dominance on the WRC stage in the 1990s.

The new model features Mitsubishi’s S-AWC traction and handling system -- an advanced all-wheel-drive system that integrates a superior level of drive torque distribution and braking management -- making the car the best handling Lancer Evolution vehicle of the series.

Mated to the new, more rigid Lancer platform, the technology results in a more responsive Lancer Evolution, with intuitive handling, a greater degree of control and outstanding attitude stability.

The new model will be powered by a new lightweight, high-performance 2.0-litre turbocharged MIVEC3 engine with aluminum cylinder block and a 6-speed automated manual transmission that contributes to vehicle’s exceptional performance while offering improved fuel economy.
