No matter how long Porsche's horizontal-6 sticks around, the company always seems to manage getting a little more out of it.

Or in the case of the new 911 GT2, a lot more.

Porsche announced that the new GT2 will be introduced at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show and will have a twin-turbocharged engine that produces a whopping 530-horsepower - an increase of 50-horsepower over the previous version of the GT2. As you may have already guessed, it's a rear-wheel drive vehicle that

The power comes from the twin-turbochargers in the 3.6-litre boxer engine that have a larger compressor wheel and a flow-optimized turbine housing raising turbocharger pressure to an even higher level.

Porsche even claims that fuel consumption is lowered (by up to 15 percent) thanks to the GT2's expansion intake manifold, which keeps the temperature of the fuel/air mixture lower than in the 911 Turbo, resulting in increased fuel efficiency.

The GT2 comes standard with a titanium muffler and tailpipes, 19-inch light-alloy wheels filled with 235/35 ZR 19 front sport tires and 325/30 ZR 19 rear sport tires, carbon-ceramic brakes and Porsche's Active Suspension Management system.
