Wrangler improves from within

Jeep continues to refine its quintessential model, with interior refinements to the Wrangler for 2011.

The all-new interior ups the styling ante with significantly upgraded touch surfaces, improved occupant comfort and versatility, and a premium appearance. The exterior also gets a slight appearance upgrade, courtesy of an all-new body-colour hard top for the Sahara trim.

“While retaining unmatched, legendary capability, the 2011 Jeep Wrangler boasts an all-new interior that delivers a host of comfort, convenience and versatility features,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO - Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “In addition, Sahara models now feature a stunning, all-new body-colour hard top, for customers looking for a Jeep Wrangler with a more premium appearance.”

The new Wrangler interior features a redesigned instrument panel with new storage cubbies including a new lockable console. Improved ergonomics make the driver’s job easier, with a redesigned centre stack that is easier to reach and boasts switchgear that is easier to operate, and new steering-wheel controls for remote operation of the radio, cruise control, hands-free phone and other vehicle functions.

Visibility has been enhanced through the enlargement of rear windows, and available heated, power outside mirrors aid in cooler or humid temperatures.

A new USB device interface connects to storage devices (thumb drives and most MP3 players) for use with the vehicle’s Media Center, which also includes streaming Bluetooth audio. More 12-volt accessory outlets have been added and a new 110-volt outlet is available to provide power for charging accessory batteries or just to plug something in.

Upgraded materials are evident in the door armrest areas and comfortable touch points throughout. In line with traditional Jeep design, hex-head bolts are utilized throughout the interior. Jeep engineers improved acoustical treatment in the 2011 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, to significantly reduce interior noise.

Several new exterior colours are available for 2011, including Detonator Yellow, Deep Cherry Red, Sahara Tan, Cosmos Blue and Bright White. And to remind cabin users of the Jeep tradition, a “Jeep, Since 1941” plate is inlaid onto the new passenger grab handle.

Production began at the end of August 2010, in Toledo, Ohio.
