Launch of Saab's first crossover vehicle

Saab is back and setting out on the biggest new product offensive in company history, says CEO Jan Ake Jonsson.

The LA Auto show saw the launch of Saab’s first crossover vehicle, the 9-4X, and a prototype of the 9-3 ePower all-electric vehicle.

The 9-4X, which goes on sale next spring, can be powered by either a 265-hp V6 in either a front-wheel-drive or X-drive configuration or a 300-hp turbocharged 2.8L V6 available in X-drive models only.

Saab’s 9-3 ePower is the first of a test fleet of 70 vehicles set go begin trials in Sweden in 2011. The full-size wagon has a projected range of about 200 km.

Also on display was the full range of the new 9-5 sedan including a 220-horsepower BioPower engine.
