For this update on our longterm RAV4 V6 Sport, I'm going to turn things over to my wife, Connie. After all, she's probably driven it for half of the 5,188 km we've racked up. Maybe even more, because it seems every time I want to take it out, she's already driving it. I swear she thinks of excuses to go to the city just to drive it on the highway. Here's what she thinks after three months:

Normally, I'm not exactly a ball of fire behind the wheel. Just ask my husband.

I'm the kind of driver who plods along in the middle of the pack on Hwy. 401 — somewhere around 110 to 115 km/h and never, well hardly ever, faster than 120.

But ever since we've had the RAV4 in our driveway, something seems to have come over me. I'll be driving along in my usual way, or so I think, but when I look at the speedometer, I'm catching myself doing 140 without even realizing it.

I do love SUVs but most of the ones I've driven are big highway hogs that make you feel guilty every time you look at the gas gauge. The RAV4 is smaller and quicker and less of a gas guzzler. And at $34,980 it's a reasonable price, too.

It took me all over the place in all kinds of weather this winter, and I never had a problem. Not even after a bad snowstorm when the streets were clogged. I just climbed up and over the snow banks without ever having to lock it down.

It's really convenient when I go shopping. The rear hatch opens like a door, so it's easier for me to operate since I'm short and usually have to deal with liftgates that go up too high for me to reach. It's no fun having to look around the supermarket parking lot for a tall person to close the hatch for you. So yes, I love the RAV4. Do we have to give it back yet?
