Sing it with me!

M.I.C. See you real soon. K.E.Y. Why? Because we like you! M.O.U.S.E.

For many of us old enough to remember, this song meant the end of a fun hour of entertainment brought to you by the Mickey Mouse Club. Today, 20 and 30 year olds take pride in the fact 1990's Mousketeer members included Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Britney Spears, to name a few.

To say Walter Elias Disney mastered the art of entertainment is a colossal understatement. A symbol of his success, there is simply no bigger playground on the planet than Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. And what better way could there be to visit the area than riding in the lavish confines of the Lincoln MKX.

A crossover first for Lincoln, the MKX is essentially the lux-version of the Ford Edge and Mazda CX-9. Replacing the slow selling Aviator in 2007, the MKX's approach to driving differs noticeably due to the fact it is built on a car-like unibody and not the previous Ford Explorer's ladder frame.

On road performance is excellent! It is so good in fact; you may well think you're driving a taller version of the Lincoln MKZ mid-size sedan.

Fitted with a fully independent suspension, it does a masterful job of handling bumps and dips with composure. Tight exits off the highway become fun behind the wheel. Even the long sweeping bends of ideal pavement just outside the Magic Kingdom are worth repeating should you happen to miss your desired exit, (it's easy to do).

Inside, the Lincoln MKX has the appearance of being expensive. Highlights include wood and bright nickel accents, premium leather seats and “cool white” lighting.

Our fully-equipped model included heated and cooled front seats plus a THX II Certified Audio System with 6-disc CD changer and 14 speakers. It also featured the new Vista Roof option, a fully functional skylight that showcases the world outside through two large glass panels. Let the sunshine in!

Not far from Mickey's fantasy world resides a family oasis fit for a king and his entire court plus two. Ginn Reunion Resort occupies 2,300 acres within an easy 20 minutes drive of the front gates.

A member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, it features accommodations ranging from superior one-bedroom villas and suites, to 2-bedroom villas, condominiums and private homes with up to eight bedrooms. All buildings within the resort are accessible by vehicle, but more often than not, golf carts are the favoured means of transport once past the secure main entrance.

The new 11-story Reunion Grande is centrally located within the property. Opened in 2007, it is home to The Spa, the Seven Eagles Pool Pavilion and Tennis Centre. Restaurant options within the resort include the casual atmosphere of rooftop dining at Eleven. Those seeking a more intimate experience will enjoy the excellent menu and extensive wine list found at Forte. It offers the perfect retreat after spending a busy day at the park.

The Golf Clubhouse is a short walk from the resort main doors. Here guests have access to not one, but three championship courses. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson, Ginn Reunion Resort is also home to the ANNIKA Academy.

Of course no resort in Orlando should ever be without a pool and the Ginn Reunion Resort delivers an over-the-top experience. A full-size Water Park features a large main pool, water course, water slide, lazy river, flume ride and beach volleyball. If getting wet is part of the plan for having fun, you've come to the right place.

Leaving the resort for even more entertainment value, the MKX made short work of the drive to Walt Disney World.

Under the hood resides a 3.5L Duratec DOHC 24-valve V6. With 265 hp @ 6200 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4500 rpm, acceleration isn't measured in 0-100 km times but quiet delivery. Smooth shifts are provided via a 6-speed automatic transmission. Curb weight is a stout 2,005 kg for the All-wheel drive version.

While the majority of Florida is flat and less than challenging terrain for the Lincoln MKX, multiple lanes of traffic and bumper-to-bumper lineups are reason enough to enjoy the ride.

A set of four, 18-inch 8-spoke chrome clad aluminum wheels with Euroflange add further style to an already classy ride. Heads turn as the MKX approaches, particularly when featured in our vehicle's White Chocolate Tri-Coat exterior with Light Carmel leather interior.

What defines our vision of the perfect family vehicle continues to morph with each passing year. As needs change, so do our preferences for style and substance. But one thing in life remains constant, no matter how old we get. Our need for exciting entertainment!

Mr. Disney understood this and it appears the design team at Lincoln does as well. You might even say driving the Lincoln MKX in a place such as Walt Disney World is a truly magical experience.
