Saturn continues the sexy-fying of its lineup with the last of its vehicles to receive the latest Saturn look. Bye-bye boxy Saturn Vue. Hello curvy Saturn Vue.

The Saturn identity may be new and, for most who see the vehicles, a refreshing change.

The front is accentuated with a tall front fascia that falls right to the ground — there's no bumper to stop it. The rear end also lacks a bumper, with only a little hump sticking out.

The roof line curves from front to back and gives good indication to the headroom inside.

A tall hood and high belt-line make Vue seem larger than it is — although my kids did find it a bit trying to climb into the rear seat.

To finish off the holiday season we thought we would take the kids to see a spectacular light display. At which point my daughter said "I don't want to go see the lights. Take the camera and take pictures of the lights so we can see them later."

Needless to say, we did manage to get her and her brother loaded up to take a trip in the Vue.

Once inside everyone was happy. My wife turned on the seat warmers on the leather trimmed seats, while the kids remained quiet looking out the large windows. I fiddle with the XM ready satellite radio, looking for some holiday tunes. That's when I stumbled on an all hard-rock station ... I was in my glory.

The CD player comes complete with MP3 playback and an auxiliary input jack for cool parents who own an iPod.

Speaking of cool, the Vue also comes with a driver information centre with a readout for the outside temperature. Yikes, -20! Better turn up the heat a notch.

Other amenities include power windows, door locks, cruise control and tilt steering.

My wife did not like that there was no power door lock switch on the passenger door. Since she fears the worst at the best of times, she explains: If we got into a rollover and you died, I couldn't unlock the doors to get me and the kids out.

Thank goodness the Vue comes equipped with all the necessary airbags: dual-stage front, driver and front passenger side-impact and head curtain side-impact airbags with rollover protection. I might still have an opportunity to unlock the doors myself. If things really got out of hand she could always hit the OnStar button.

An adjustable cargo net comes equipped in the cargo area and would be great to hold down gear in the back, but as a partition it can get in the way, especially with larger items. At the end of the test drive the apparatus was left unattached on the cargo floor.

Packed with a 3.6-litre DOHC V6, this Vue pushes out 257 hp. Give 'er a little oomf under your right foot and the engine howls — inspiring the driver to find opens roads, clear of snow and ice, to let loose on the highway.

To add to the sportiness, the Vue XR comes equipped with a six-speed automatic and tap shift transmission control — an option with the premium package.

The Vue comes equipped with all-wheel-drive, full traction control and StabiliTrak stability control, and handled admirably in snow. I still wished for winter tires when I turned through ice-slicked intersections.

All the systems together did keep us from taking part in any car curling and got us to the light show safely.

The kids really enjoyed the night out with mom and dad. My daughter was grateful that we didn't leave her behind after all.

That's when my wife and I looked at each other ... we forgot the camera.
