I’m in love with a curvaceous redhead, and I’m not sure how I’m going to break the news to my wife. But who could blame me? This knockout redhead is all I ever dreamed of…and more.

In the looks department she’s a perfect ten, she’s also athletic and quick, tireless, and a delight to spend time with. She also calms my nerves and manages to quicken my pulse – all at the same time.

The problem is I’m not the only one who notices her long list of attributes. Everywhere I go men stop to gawk. And they don’t even try to hide the fact that they’re looking. This redhead is so desirable she attracts unwanted attention wherever we go.

So who’s the hottie that has me, and every other male who sees her, coveting that which is not ours? The brand new 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe. If you thought the old G35 was a head turner, this new model makes the old one look like an ugly stepsister.

I was smitten with passion (for performance) the moment I laid eyes upon the G37. Adorned in a wonderful “Plasma Red” colour, our tester instantly dilated my pupils and made passersby stop, point and gawk. And who could blame us?

The wonderful contours and seductive lines of the old G35 are even more pronounced on the G37. This new coupe falls into the rare “looks great from any angle” category of car design – an attribute normally reserved for supercars and top performers.

But then again, a top performer is exactly what the G37 coupe is. With 330 hp and 270 lb.-ft. of torque produced by a robust 3.7-litre (thus the “37” in G37) V6, it offers an exhilarating driving experience. Mated to a super-smooth six-speed manual tranny, our tester was a delight to pilot. And the fact that it comes in a rear-wheel-drive configuration, makes it even more appealing.

The excitement begins the moment you slip into the sports seats. With four adjustable side-bolsters these seats support the driver from all angles, thereby assuring butt stays in seat no matter how hard you push the coupe.

Then, when you press the clutch and hit the “Start” button on the dash, the G37 springs to life and greets you with a deep seductive growl that promises a riveting driving experience. Once you hit the open road you realize there’s muscle and agility behind all that sculpted sheet metal, and with so much torque and power at your beck and call you’re sure to run out of highway long before the G37 runs out of breath.

In fact, the driving experience is best described as an exhilarating cocktail with large doses of frustration mixed in to sour the drink. All that power and performance at your fingertips and all you can do is the legal limit (plus or minus a margin of error, of course).

Inside, the new G comes with goodies that make the drive a sheer delight. Besides all the electronic gadgets we’ve all come to expect in modern performers (GPS, satellite radio, a high-end audio system, Bluetooth, climate control, etc) this coupe offers electronic wonders that will keep you safe, as well as entertained.

The intelligent cruise control system, for starters, maintains a given speed and applies the brakes on its own if and when you get dangerously close to the vehicle ahead of you. The adaptive headlights follow you through turns to illuminate the winding road ahead, and the four-wheel active steering system turns all four wheels for better handling.

Here’s another innovation: a compact flash slot on the dash. Instead of hooking up an MP3 player with a cord, you simply pull out the flash memory and plug it in directly into the audio system.

And although back-up cameras are old news, the one on the G37 offers incredible image quality and a series of markers that tell you how far you are from whatever you’re backing up against – a must since the wide angle lens distorts depth perception.

The back-up system also comes with a cool guidance system. As you back into a parking spot, for instance, the system tells you where to position your steering wheel so that you make it into the spot without guesswork.

And while we’re on the subject of interior goodies, I have to mention the soothing ambiance of the passenger cabin. The colours are easy on the eyes, the lighting perfect, and everything exudes quality and high class. Switches feel sturdy, controls are well organized and fit and finish is flawless.

I think what impressed me most is the fact that you can get a G37 for under $50k. In fact, it’s difficult to find another vehicle on the market today that offers all the luxury, all the power, all the performance, and all the good looks for so little. Most of the competitors offer one or the other, but no one combines all of the above for this kind of MSRP.

If a gorgeous redhead is on your list of must-haves, do yourself a favour and spend a little time with a G37 before making a commitment. She’s well worth it!
