If Italian is the language of love, than the Ferrari is beautiful mistress of the automobile world, and the Italian automaker has released a truly gorgeous model in the form of the 2001 360 Modena.

Made in four trim levels, Berlinetta, Berlinetta F1, Spider and Spider F1, the Modena has a powerful 3.6-litre V8 engine, with 40-valves, and a high output of 400 horsepower.

It looks like the Modena will be as smooth as silk on the road, with the standard Berlinetta and Spider using a 6-speed manual transmission, while the F1 sports a Formula One-type gearbox, and allows the driver to shift up or down using paddles located on the steering wheel. According to Ferrari, the F1 transmission is a clutchless manual with the clutch action actuated by computer.

The Modena is different from other Ferrari offerings in that it is the first production Ferrari to be made entirely out of aluminium. Chassis, bodyshell and suspension components are all made from the lightweight metal, which Ferrari says contributes to better overall performance and handling - better than anything previously achieved in a mid-engined Ferrari.

Standard equipment on the 2001 Modena includes Connolly leather trim, aluminum interior accents, power windows and door locks, xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights, Brembo cross-drilled front and rear disc brakes, a limited-slip differential, and 18-inch magnesium-alloy wheels.

If you get the Spider, the alternate trim level offers a power-operated top, carbon fibre racing seats with 4-point harnesses, a removable roof panel, and leather suitcases made to match the interior of the car.

And if you're driving this thrill machine, you're going to need some safety features. Dual airbags, automatic slip control (traction control), and anti-lock brakes with Brake Effort Correction are all standard.
