The 2002 Land Rover Freelander will be available in three different trim levels, plus a special Kalahari version.

The Kalahari version of the Freelander is a concept that first debuted on the auto show circuit earlier in 2001, and will be available in Canada in very, very limited quantities, a Land Rover spokesperson said.

The Kalahari features "Molten" Orange and matte Black exterior paint colours, with a black leather/fabric interior and molten orange stitching. It also comes with 17-inch wheels and vehicle accessories that include an A-frame nudge bar, heavy-duty underbody protection plates, 10 accessory lights and a heavy-duty roof rack with cover.

Freelander is Land Rover's smallest SUV, but it does pack somewhat of a punch. The five-door model comes equipped with a V6 engine, all-wheel drive, five-speed Steptronic transmission, and a four-channel, all-terrain Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard. Other standard features include four-wheel Electronic Traction Control (4ETC) and Hill Descent Control (HDC).

The powertrain is comprised of a 2.4-litre, 24-valve V6 engine that delivers 175 horsepower and 177 lbs.ft. of torque.

The three trim levels for the Freelander are the base model S, with cloth trim, mid-level SE, with leather trim, and high-end HSE, with wood trim.
